The Asian Longhorn Beetle has been discovered in Worcester. The invasive species is native to China and may infest many hardwood species, especially Maples.

The bugs bore holes into trees and lay eggs, which then pupate and exit the trees. The holes allow insects and diseases to infect the tree, and eventually the tree dies from the beetle or succumbs to the diseases and dies.

The bugs were found last week in the Kendrick Field area in Worcester. Officials are centering on the West Boylston Street area.

So for the last five years all the liberals and the hippies and the nattering nabobs of normalcy have been coming up to Giblets and going "Was the war a mistake Giblets?" and "Are we losing the war Giblets?" and "Oh look at all the dead people Giblets, maybe we should stop the war." And the correct answers to these questions have been "Shut up," "Shut up you traitor," and "We'd be winning already if you'd just shut up." But Giblets is a patient Giblets and is willing to entertain even the most tedious requests of his dullest subjects, especially if it gets him published columns in Slate and The New York Times. Circuit City Stores Inc. has a message for some of its best-paid employees: Work for less or work somewhere else.

The electronics retailer on Wednesday laid off 3,400 people who earned "well above" the local market rate for the sort of jobs they held at its stores.

In 11 weeks they'll be able to apply for their old positions — which will come with lower hourly wages.
